Tehran condemned a letter sent by the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council to the UN Security Council, calling for an extension of the arms embargo on Iran. A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the letter is absurd and is aimed at satisfying Washington, accusing Gulf states of turning the region into a weapons depot.
