Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei stressed the need to punish the perpetrators of the assassination of the head of the Defense Research Center, the nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, and those behind it. Khamenei said in a statement in which Fakhrizadeh mourned that he was a scientist whose equivalent was scarcely in the nuclear and defense fields.
